Cycling ... lowers the risk of Dementia!

Cycling; There are all sorts of ideas for activities that reduce the risk of dementia by keeping the brain active; good food, doing Sudokas, and even a glass of red wine. But now a new study from China and Australia with half a million participants is showing that the risk of dementia can be pushed back by 20% for older folk. Travel on a bike includes not just the movement but also the coordination and navigation improves a greater "hippocampus" in the brain. There is even in this study evidence that the risk of early dementia (in 40-65 year olds) is reduced by about 40%! These kind of reports are not to give people false hope as Alzheimers is very a much broader illness however the results of the study show that cycling is good for you. Or as we say in Bikeseven: Ride to Live!
